About the Opportunity

The Senior Network Administrator maintains State Library Victoria's wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) networks and ensures a secure and highly available service for Library employees, patrons and visitors. The role provides operational support focusing on incident resolution and prevention, and contributes to ICT initiatives and improvements including upgrades, rollouts and release activities.

Working collaboratively with the Lead Network Infrastructure and VOIP position, the Senior Network Administrator contributes to major incident management and resolution, providing technical knowledge and systems expertise including, but not limited to, Cisco Networks, Wireless (WAPS), Palo Alto and Microsoft Teams.

About You

We value the breadth and depth of your technical expertise as well as your ability to work calmly through network problems and trouble-shoot during high pressure incidents. Your experience with everything from network load balancing to VLAN issues draws stakeholders to seek you out for your diagnostic and analytical capability.  

In addition to, you will come to us with:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. computing, information and communication technology) or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated network operations experience, including a proven track record of successfully trouble-shooting complex issues for a broad range of stakeholders.
• Experience designing, implementing and maintaining data networks at Enterprise level (e.g. in Cisco, Palo Alto, HPE, etc) in a “zero-trust” IT environment.
• High-level communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated understanding of relevant Victorian Government ICT policies and standards, including audit and risk compliance, cybersecurity principles (e.g. Essential Eight), information privacy and data protection obligations.
• Cisco certification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
