- Fixed-term (12 months), full-time role
- Hybrid work (Up to 2 days per week working from home)
- VPS 5.2 salary between $114,830 – $125,735 + 10.5% superannuation
About the opportunity
The DevOps Engineer is the Library's champion for its modern development and IT operations practice. Working closely with the business, you will work with our Systems Administrators and other technology stakeholders to implement DevOps workflows, containerize applications with Docker, create standard operating environments, setup CI/CD pipelines, and build a high-availability infrastructure for our core systems and applications.
The DevOps Engineer is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
- Delivery and ongoing management of a standardised approach to deploy, manage, update, and update systems with a Continuous Deployment (CD) approach.
- Building Containers – building standard operating environments, packaging applications with Docker, and setting up the appropriate cloud infrastructure to run said containers
- High Availability – deploying applications that enable High-Availability (HA)
- Repository Deployment– manage the deployment pipelines and infrastructure of applications that are repository based (Git).
- Build a secure infrastructure - implement security best practices to ensure a secure infrastructure.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have/be:
- Technical knowledge – deep understanding of DevOps practices, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and relevant systems and practices across the industry.
- Engineering skills – able to understand complex applications, its dependencies, and the underlying technology stack to build stateless containers.
- System administrator skills – able to navigate Linux based OS, LAMP stacks, virtual machines, and SSH terminals.
- Strategy skills – able to determine and articulate an approach to achieve a specific outcome, taking into account ambiguities, difficulties, obstacles, changing circumstances, and consequences.
- Coaching and mentoring skills – able to help others improve their knowledge or skills by providing encouragement, feedback and insights into alternative ways of approaching particular situations.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills – question existing processes and practices to identify best of breed solutions.
