About the branch:

The Workplace Relations and Occupational Health and Safety practice group provides practical advice and solutions for issues arising in the unique workplace environment in which the public sector operates. Our expertise covers workplace relations, industrial action and disputation, enterprise bargaining and change management, occupational health and safety, equal opportunity and anti-discrimination, disciplinary action, regulatory boards and tribunals, machinery of government and transfer of business issues, and risk management in the employment context

 

About the role:

A unique and exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to a team of solicitors in our Workplace Relations & Occupational Safety Branch.  We are seeking an experienced legal administrative assistant to do the following:

  • Preparing correspondence and court documents – drafting and typing (dictaphone)
  • Amending & formatting documents
  • File management – maintaining orderly, up to date legal files
  • Diary and email management – monitoring emails, calendars and recording deadlines
  • Telephone assistance – both incoming and screening
  • General administration – photocopying, couriers, billing, relieving reception

This position works across a range of matters and is based within a dynamic and passionate team. As such, you will work with highly skilled and passionate lawyers in this niche area.

 

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have the following experience:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role within a legal environment
  • Demonstrated experience in performing a range of legal support duties to multiple solicitors
  • Superior time management skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to appropriately deal with sensitive and highly confidential information with a high level of tact, discretion and judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use your initiative to proactively seek work and identify process improvements
