  • Salary $97,955 plus 12% superannuation – VPS Grade 4
  • Based in Ballarat, with hybrid working arrangements

The opportunity  
Branch Technical Officers (BTOs) are responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks to support the administration of various tax revenue line/s, maintain databases and support the delivery of effective and efficient customer services. BTOs are also responsible for independently investigating complex or technical customer files, provides specialist advice, and assisting in the development and implementation of operational service delivery plans to meet service and performance goals.

Reporting to a Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking core work tasks within the relevant revenue line or lines and update data, prepare briefs, correspondence or reports to reflect decision making.
  • Providing advice to resolve complex or technical enquiries, undertake complex data and trend analysis, data modelling as well as escalated complex or technical internal or external customer issues.
  • Leading/participating in and/or co-ordinating branch forums including Business Revenue Leadership Forum, Connect Days and other forums including external customer meetings.
  • Leading and contributing to branch and corporate projects, procedural reviews, best practice knowledge management.
  • Supporting Team, Branch and Divisional management to develop and maintain a positive culture, achieve service delivery, individual and corporate performance and quality targets and provide effective leadership in the absence of the Team Leader.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Leadership capabilities and the ability to co-ordinate a group or support individuals to achieve results and work cooperatively and professionally in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve defined objectives.
  • A sound understanding of (at least) one revenue line, including proven ability to apply policies and procedures when making decisions and train others to use the policies and procedures in their decision making.
  • Proven ability to show initiative, act on opportunities for improvements and take responsibility for own actions.
  • Demonstrated interest in contributing to programs and initiatives that support administrative efficiency, improved customer experience and service delivery.
  • Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to maintain high standards of performance while ensuring that work items are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
