Position Details
Senior Investigator/Auditor – Investigations Ballarat Branch
- At least three (3) ongoing and one (1) fixed term role (7 months) in the Investigations Ballarat Branch, Compliance Division
- Salary $100,894 – $114,476 plus 12% superannuation – VPS Grade 4
- Based in Ballarat with hybrid working arrangements.

The opportunity
This role requires an outstanding communicator with excellent investigative/audit and research skills and the ability to juggle competing deadlines and priorities. Your demonstrated success in a revenue field will complement your strong negotiation and mentoring skills, and you will confidently represent the State Revenue Office during sensitive and complex reviews.
Reporting to a Team Leader, Investigations Ballarat, you will:
- Conduct sensitive and complex investigations/audits across multiple revenue lines and negotiate appropriate outcomes with customers.
- Produce accurate, clear, and concise reports on investigation findings.
- Mentor staff.
Who we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team on complex investigations/audits.
- Demonstrated high-level communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in interpreting and applying complex legislation in a taxation or revenue field.
- Experience in applying a range of investigative/audit skills and techniques to obtain information and evidence.
- A tertiary qualification or demonstrated commitment to tertiary studies in a relevant discipline (highly desirable).
