About the role  
Join our Human Resources Branch where we provide a full range of HR services to over 1000 employees to help build a culture of performance and commitment, promote a safe and inclusive workplace, and enable us to achieve our business goals.

The Principal Consultant – Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) works with the HSW Specialist to ensure the SRO's people are healthy and safe. It does this by delivering the HSW framework, ensuring legislative compliance, and building safety systems and culture aligned with Victoria's Psychological Health Regulations. 

The role, which can be performed full time or part time, supports the People, Culture and Capability (PCC) division to develop a strategic organisational system to inform, guide and support our leaders, employees, contractors to achieve a consistent approach to managing staff safety and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with SRO staff and leaders to advise and coach on effective health, safety and wellbeing management.
  • Providing expert practical health, safety and wellbeing advice to leaders and staff through risk assessments, incident reporting and investigations.
  • Supporting the HSW Specialist to develop HSW policies, guidelines and procedures, recommendations for minor works, and preparation of reports to the executive and senior leadership.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in OHS/Workplace Health and Safety or equivalent relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated current knowledge or experience working with OHS legislation and compliance codes including the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act and associated regulations.
  3. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing health safety and wellbeing improvement initiatives and risk management activities.
  4. Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
