Position Details

Working with the Building Appeals Board, you will be working across a range of stakeholder groups providing technical advice, briefings and reporting/recommendations while supporting technical committees and boards; making a tangible difference while taking on a role that moves away from the traditional role of a building surveyor, and into a more advisory/technical expert environment.

The Role

As the senior technical advisor, you will be providing specialised building surveyor expertise and undertaking the following key functions:

 

  • High level advice on the National Construction Code, Victorian Building Act, and Regulations to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare technical reports and input into a variety of matters including site inspections and assessment of documentation, making recommendations for relevant actions
  • Prepare advice, briefings, ministerial briefs, reports, correspondence, practice notes, fact sheets in response to a range of technical enquiries
  • Assist in the research and development of building controls associated with the ongoing review, evaluation and revision of the Victorian Building Act. Regulations and Codes and provide technical input and advice

 

The Essential Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

 

  • Tertiary qualification and eligibility for registration as a Building Surveyor, Building Inspector (Unlimited)
  • Post-qualification experience in a Building Surveyor / Inspector role within the private or municipal environment.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Performance Based Building and Fire Codes, and exposure to places of public entertainment, prescribed temporary structures, accessibility and alternative solutions are highly desirable
