The Service Victoria culture is dynamic and fast-paced, we're not what you'd expect from a government department. We work flexibly and remotely, using our workspaces in Footscray and Ballarat for onsite collaboration. We have a mature digital services platform of contemporary cloud-based infrastructure, technical architecture and scalable and reusable common capabilities, with real-time integration into agency legacy systems.

Service Victoria is an Administrative Office attached to the Department of Government Services (DGS). DGS was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.

Service Victoria and DGS are bringing important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.

About the role

The role of an iOS Developer at Service Victoria involves designing, coding, and modifying the Service Victoria iOS app. This app aims to improve customer experience by providing efficient, streamlined services. The key objectives associated with this role include developing a high-quality Code, keeping user-friendliness as the key focus, troubleshooting and resolving issues swiftly, and ensuring the app is kept up-to-date with the latest industry trends. The developer is expected to work closely with the team to initiate innovative ideas and to create user-focused solutions to meet business goals.

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Good knowledge of Swift and Objective-C
  • Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services
  • Good knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards
  • Understanding of Apple's design principles and interface guidelines
  • Good understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration

Mandatory requirements

  • 3 years hands-on experience with Swift and Objective-C
  • Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc.
  • Good understanding & experience of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Experience in CI/CD pipeline

  • A passion for keeping up to date with the development trend
  • A keen attention to detail and passion for great user experiences
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to learn from others and constantly improve your craft
