About the role:
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced lawyers or senior lawyers to join our new integrated duty lawyer and family violence support service in the family law courts in Melbourne and Dandenong.

You will also engage in community legal education projects, law reform and other Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) projects as required. Depending on level of experience, you will also supervise the provision of our legal aid services.

The positions are full time maximum term with one position based in Dandenong and the other position based in Melbourne. This presents a unique opportunity for experienced family lawyers to be part of a new service with a strong focus on therapeutic lawyering.

About you:
You will have knowledge and practical experience in providing quality legal services with a focus on the family law jurisdiction. You will have the capacity to work as an advocate and caseworker in family law, family violence and other related matters. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of external organisations, private practitioners, community and welfare groups in the delivery of legal aid services.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate your commitment to working collaboratively with others and fostering a supportive team environment to effectively address client’s needs.  You will have a passion for advocating for clients and demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the promotion of our organisation and its values.

About Victoria Legal Aid:
Our vision is for a fair and just society where rights and responsibilities are upheld. With over 700 staff employed in 14 offices across Victoria, we help people with their legal problems by providing information, advice and education with a focus on the prevention and early resolution of legal problems. We also provide legal representation to those who need it most.

Employee benefits:
We offer attractive employment benefits including salary packaging (making part of your salary tax-free), flexible working arrangements, family friendly policies and opportunities for professional development. Whilst the work is challenging, you will be rewarded with a culture that is focused on achieving quality outcomes for disadvantaged Victorians.
