  • Enjoy a stable job as part of the new team at Western Plains

Victoria's new public correctional centre is approaching completion and now is the time to apply for ongoing jobs that will help shape the future operations of the facility.

Employees working in the initial stage of operations will contribute to the foundations of the new facility by participating in the development of operating processes, services and procedures. In addition, they will be part of a multi-disciplinary team committed to building a culture of continuous improvement in the workplace.

The new correctional centre will strengthen the way we work by harnessing innovative approaches and using the latest in technology to achieve improved outcomes for prisoners and the safety of the whole community.

If you have a passion for seeing others succeed and are motivated to make a positive contribution, then make the most of this unique opportunity to be part of the team at the new Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains).

The role

As a technology and applications developer, you will be responsible for developing solutions using a low-code development platform and integrating it with existing solutions (e.g. Outsystems, APEX, SharePoint and/or other Microsoft Power Platform Tools).

While the role offers a great work/life balance, you may be required to work some weekends and public holidays when there are urgent needs.

Your skills and experience

We are searching for a developer experienced in low-code development and model-driven design tooling (e.g. OutSystems, Oracle Apex 5+).

As our ideal candidate, you will also be experienced in more than one of the following disciplines:

  • Domain Driven Design
  • Microservice Architecture
  • Event Driven Architecture
  • RESTful Architecture
  • Information Modelling
  • Integration Modelling
  • Low-code design and delivery

Knowledge of iterative, incremental and agile software development methodologies is highly regarded as well.

Beyond your professional background, we will also value your critical thinking and ability to work collaboratively and solve problems quickly.

Please review the position description to learn more about the role and what other skills we're looking for.

Apply now

Include your current resume when you apply for this position. Note, there is no requirement to supply a cover letter, however, you will be asked to respond to two questions regarding your motivation for applying and your relevant skills, attributes and experience.

We want to make sure all Victorians feel represented by the department's work. One of the ways we do this is by recruiting a diverse workforce – we welcome people of any gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability and cultural background. We are also committed to the Victorian Government's promise to increase the number of veterans working in the public sector.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply. The Department of Justice and Community Safety is continually working towards increasing our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) workforce. The Aboriginal Employment Team aims to attract, recruit and retain Aboriginal staff across all our roles. This support includes a culturally appropriate attraction and recruitment process.
