Learning and Development - Training Resource Writer

The primary purpose of this role is to research, identify and apply developments in digital learning approaches to the development and maintenance of high quality training resources. This position will develop and prepare the content for training resource kits, including the preparation of graphics, slides, audio, videos and animations for traditional face to face delivery, blended learning and fully online training programs. This role may involve manual handling, working outdoors and some evening and weekend work. Employment screening, including criminal history, medical assessment, confirmation of experience and stated qualifications, Australian working rights and other relevant checks form part of the candidate’s suitability evaluation process.

Position Details


Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events. As the control agency for flood, storm, tsunami, earthquake and landslide emergency, we take the lead in the preparation and response for those hazards. Under the coordination of Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), VICSES works within the broader emergency management sector, wherein all agencies and services work as one to ensure the safety of the state. We also work closely with key partners and municipal councils throughout Victoria to develop and improve their emergency management plans in relation to the performance and exercise of their duties and responsibilities under the Emergency Management Acts 1986 and 2013. VICSES is committed to being a child safe organisation. Support the implementation of the VICSES Learning and Development business plan by independently managing instructional review or design projects for physical and digital resources using VICSES learning and development processes Support the implementation of the Learning and Development business plan by developing, implementing and reporting on consultation strategies with key stakeholders in the review and design of training materials. Enhance VICSES ability to operate in an environment of continuous improvement by researching and applying technical skills in instructional design to the redesign or development of training products including acting on stakeholder feedback, identifying future organisational requirements and applying innovation. Increase awareness of VICSES training programs by developing and implementing communication strategies that align to VICSES media and communication standards to staff and members during review processes and release of new materials Enhance VICSES operational capabilities by developing, monitoring and maintaining a digital asset register of training resources including video, audio, images and animation materials. Support VICSES registered training organisation compliance to government standards by applying instructional design knowledge and skills to the preparation of reports related to the development, implementation and validation of training course materials Enhance the Learning and Development team's ability to meet its strategic priorities through identifying actions for the Learning and Development Business Plan to meet the changing priorities and demands resulting from VICSES strategic planning cycles.
