North East Link is the biggest ever investment in Melbourne's north-east – changing the way people move around Melbourne.

Victoria's longest road tunnels will fix the missing link in our city's freeway network, take 15,000 trucks off local roads a day and slash travel times by up to 35 minutes. We'll also complete the Ring Road in Greensborough, overhaul the Eastern Freeway, build Melbourne's first dedicated busway and the North East Trail – more than 34km of walking and cycling paths.

About the Opportunity

Be part of a transformative infrastructure project for Victoria working with a great team of supportive professionals in the Central Package.

As our next Deputy Director, Commercial, you will be inspired to provide executive-level leadership, strategic and operational support to the Delivery Director, Central and the wider Central Package team building the largest tunnel in Australia. The position is responsible for the commercial, legal, financial, government policy and procurement workstreams relating to the $11.25bn PPP-ITC Central Package.

Reporting to the Director delivery, Central , you will be a key member of the Central Package senior leadership team, consisting of industry leaders in project delivery, engineering, community, environment and people and culture and be key in the successful delivery of the tunnel package. Working in collaboration with the project team and contractors, the role will be a key interface with the State Tolling Company (Department of Treasury and Finance), Project Co and NELP's functional legal and commercial team and be responsible for forecasting and administration of commercial, contractual, and  reporting obligations.

It will be a requirement to travel and spend time at one or all of our site offices (Heidelberg and Abbotsford offices).

About You

This position demands a highly experienced and influential construction leader with advanced knowledge of major infrastructure delivery. To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Project delivery experience.
  • An great understanding of finance and experience mananaging a legal and commercial team in a similar environment.
  • Significant achievement in the delivery of large infrastructure projects, demonstrating excellence in timeframe and budget optimisation, safety management and environmental performance.
  • A demonstrated ability to address and resolve significant legal, environmental and commercial risks associated with large scale infrastructure projects.
  • Expert level whole of project life-cycle leadership and project management experience in the engineering, construction, and operational aspects of major infrastructure project delivery.
