Position Details
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Assessment and Reporting Division in the Assessment Programs Unit for an ongoing position.
- Salary: $76,817 - $93,275 (Plus Superannuation of 11.5%)

- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions maybe available)
- Usual work location: Coburg Assessment Centre
Role Purpose
This position has the responsibility for providing high level technical expertise to support VCAA digital platforms associated with the administration and delivery of VCAA external assessment programs, in particular the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) online test platform.
This position plays a key role in the delivery of these programs and the continuous improvement of associated processes.
The main components of this role include but are not limited to:
- Supporting data processing activities, including processing and cleansing of student and results data within defined project schedules
- Contributing to database and software testing and quality assurance (e.g. UAT) processes
- Collecting, maintaining and processing of information to ensure the accuracy of data, including working with other business areas to support data transition across various databases and platforms
- Maintenance of school and student records on the VCAA's corporate database
- Providing data processing and reporting support to relevant VCAA business areas and helpdesks
- Engaging with stakeholders, including subject matter experts, across the VCAA to confirm data requirements and associated processes.
About the unit
The Assessment Programs Unit oversees the delivery and reporting of the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests and is based at the VCAA Assessment Centre in Coburg.

Qualifications and experience
Desirable: Relevant experience in Information Technology project support roles
Essential demonstrated experience in:
- Analysing data using standard tools (e.g. SQL, Access, Excel and Visual Basic)
- Ensuring delivery of timely, accurate and high-quality data products and reports
- Translating business needs into technical requirements
- Contributing to the establishment and continuous improvement of data management systems to support business needs.
