Position Details


Reporting to the Director, and working closely with and advising the Commissioner, the General Counsel will lead a small high-performing legal team to provide expert and authoritative advice on complex legal and policy issues central to the operational requirements of the Victorian Disability Worker Commission (the Commission) and the Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria (the Board) established under the Disability Service Safeguards Act 2018 (Vic) (the Act), which underpin all aspects of the Disability Worker Regulation Scheme (the Scheme).

Are you:

  • An expert at providing accurate and timely analysis and advice on a wide range of legislative and contractual matters and other legal and subordinate instruments?
  • A strategic thinker, able to provide a broad range of strategic legal advice that supports the Commission to achieve its strategic priorities?
  • A confident and excellent communicator with finely tuned relationship building skills to enable you to professionally liaise with a range of stakeholders and represent the Commission?


  1. Provide leadership and guidance in a broad range of legal matters to senior stakeholders by developing briefs on highly complex issues, including developing strategies for management of complex legal proceedings.
  2. Provide expert legal advice on policy and commercial matters relating to designated contracts including review, preparation or outsourcing of commercial and contractual terms and conditions for contracts, subcontracts and other instruments.
  3. Provide expert legal advice and guidance on regulatory activities, including complaints, notifications, investigations and worker registration.
