Position Details

Senior Lawyer – Bendigo

•Full time ongoing position
•Salary commensurate with experience, range: $88,436 - $110,543 plus superannuation

About the role:
We are seeking a senior lawyer to join the Loddon-Campaspe regional office criminal law team based in Bendigo. In this role you will represent priority clients and provide expert advice in complex criminal law matters. You will appear as a lawyer at various courts and tribunals including Bendigo, Swan Hill, Kerang, Echuca, Castlemaine and Kyneton providing client representation, duty lawyer services and conducting case work and advice services.

As a senior member of the team, you will assist in the supervision and mentoring of junior lawyers and contribute to professional legal education, including the delivery of criminal law training programs. Part of your role will also include contributing to development, implementation and review of the Loddon-Campaspe Regional office plan and the VLA Strategic Plan and assist in the development of strategies to improve client service.

About you:
You will have significant criminal law advocacy experience and knowledge in the areas of both Summary and Indictable crime. You will have an interest in law and policy reform and the ability to lead, supervise and mentor staff. Crucial to your success in this role will be your excellent interpersonal skills, ability to form productive professional relationships and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels. You will be a team player able to work collaboratively in responding to the needs of clients. You will also demonstrate a commitment to promoting VLA's vision and values.
