Position Details

An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the new Advancing Traditional Owner Rights Branch as Business Support Officer to contribute to the ground-breaking work in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.

The responsibilities of the Advancing Traditional Owner Rights branch include leading redress and self-determination policy development, ensuring alignment between the Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010 (Vic) and future Interim Treaty offers as well as undertaking shadow policy work on whole of Victorian Government programs and reforms impacting Traditional Owners.

As Business Support Officer, you will provide a range of administrative and business support services including onboarding and offboarding staff, completing personnel forms and updating branch email and contact lists, travel and accommodation bookings and general office duties as required. You will also liaise with management, up to Executive level to ensure quality assurance and accuracy of all correspondence including briefs and other related documentation.


About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Highly developed computer skills and demonstrated experience with government business systems and electronic databases such as ABC Brief Management, Outlook, GIPS, Fincloud and Content Manager
  • Demonstrated policy and coordination skills to support the development of policies and programs within the Treaty and First Peoples' portfolio
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Victorian government policies and processes relating to business management and government service delivery
  • Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills with the capacity to use initiative and flexibility in managing a multi-faceted, variable workload
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills
