  • Salary range: $87,799 - $98,901 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model

About the role
Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is excited to offer multiple Lawyer positions at our Shepparton office, including a Senior Family Lawyer position. Whether you're newly admitted or bring some legal experience, we encourage you to apply. 

In this role, you will represent clients in various courts and tribunals, including Magistrates Court, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. You will provide legal advice and casework in family law and family violence, including intervention order matters. You'll also engage in community legal education and law reform projects and work with a collaborative team to improve client services.

This role is based at our Shepparton office on Yorta Yorta and Bangerang Country.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • The ability to advocate in court and manage cases in one or more of our core practice areas, particularly family law and family violence.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to achieving positive outcomes through teamwork.
  • A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
  • Entitled to practise in federal courts and courts exercising federal jurisdiction (entry on the High Court's Register of Practitioners) (mandatory).
