Position Details

Salary range $131,053 - $153,213 plus statutory super.

The Education and Compliance Manager role offers an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about using their leadership skills to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers. With expert knowledge on risk-based regulation, implementing effective compliance programs using an educative approach and conducting audits, the role will ensure teachers and their employers are complying with their legislative obligations.

About the role

This role will oversee the development of key processes designed to educate stakeholders (teachers, early childhood teachers and their employers) about their regulatory obligations, assist them to comply with those obligations, monitor ongoing compliance and manage compliance breaches.

The role is an 18 month, fixed term role to backfill an individual on secondment. The role reports into the Director, Teacher Engagement and Registration and provides specialist advice relating to key operational priorities and risks to help inform the strategic direction of the Branch.

Accountabilities include

  • audit of applications (for compliance with process and professional learning / practice / standards requirements)
  • delivery of education programs regarding regulatory obligations (such as how to apply for and maintain registration / permission to teach, the co-regulatory requirements for employers of teachers, the role of VIT, and the Victorian teaching profession's code of conduct and ethics)
  • investigation of unregistered teaching practice, including by taking appropriate action to manage breaches
  • management of data and key stakeholder relationships to promote compliance.

About you

You will have strong management experience combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in leading the delivery of compliance frameworks in a registration / licensing in a regulatory environment. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have

  • strong knowledge of contemporary risk-based regulatory practices, particularly as they relate to compliance monitoring, compliance-based investigations and assisting stakeholders to comply
  • proven experience designing and coordinating education programs that lead to measurable behaviour chang
  • demonstrated change management and process innovation skills, including the ability to work across teams to meet agreed outcomes
  • demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic compliance frameworks that align with organisational objectives.
