Position Details

Come and help us build and improve our modern digital platform and make a difference for the people of Victoria and the people who work at DELWP. You'll be part of a team leading the introduction of iterative agile development using the latest technologies, tools and techniques.

The Senior Front-End Developer position is a part of the Planning Information Service's Solution Delivery Team, which oversees the digital product development pipeline in line with business needs and architecture directions. The position will work to design and develop intuitive and scalable products within a cross functional agile team.

The Planning Information Services Branch manages the delivery, support and enhancement of all business technology, information services and systems including public facing systems and services.  The team maintains and develops systems to support the work of the Planning Group and the wider planning industry including local government. We adapt and adopt high-quality, secure software engineering practices and blend fast paced software delivery with best practices, helping us shorten the gap between development and production.

We're looking for a candidate who has the skills and experience to be a leader in their area of expertise, helping us make sound development choices, and who also shows a demonstrated preference for working across all areas of software delivery to gain new skills and experience, helping the team achieve its goals.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in computer science or equivalent career experience.
  • Extensive and broad experience in designing and developing web applications focusing on the front end but with exposure to and integration with microservices.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience designing and developing complex web applications using the following technologies:  React, Vue, AWS, Docker, GitLab, REST APIs.
  • Substantial agile software development including experience with CI/CD and regular short release cycles (e.g. end of sprint)
  • A sound understanding of modern UX theory and practice

This is a fixed term position until 31 December 2022.
