Position Details
This is a full-time fixed term position until the 29 March 2024.
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students 0 to 18 years.
An opportunity exists in the VCE Examinations Unit of the VCAA for a self-motivated team player to provide effective editing and proofreading of VCE examination materials to publication standard. The successful applicant will coordinate a team of editors within a larger Examinations Unit team, who play a key role in contributing to the Victorian Certificate of Education and have strict security and confidentiality requirements.
The person appointed to this position will be one of a team of editors who play a key role in the delivery of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). All examination materials are required to be edited, styled and proofread to ensure that each is of the highest publication standard and conforms to VCAA editorial and style guidelines. The Senior Editor will be coordinating the work of the team of editors, including their training, work allocation, monitoring, review and feedback. They will be responsible for maintaining editorial standards, including the authoring and maintenance of the Examinations Editorial Style Guide, as well as the provision of advice and support to internal staff on best practice in written publications.
Applicants should possess the ability to work on a number of concurrent projects and be able to work to strict timelines. They should be able to develop and implement systems and procedures, and ensure that project objectives are met. The position involves the coordination of the work of other editors, as well as a great deal of collaborative work with other VCAA officers, so the ability to work as part of a team is essential.
The work involves the production of examination materials to a very high standard of accuracy, so a liking for meticulous work, the ability to observe fine details and excellent written communication skills are essential.
