Position Details

A Senior Advisor role is available within the Education State Policy and Design Branch of the Department of Education and Training.

The Branch is responsible for supporting key departmental governance, advisory and coordination bodies and ensuring that these contribute to advancing the Education State vision. This involves connecting with most areas of the Department, and with relevant areas of other departments, including central agencies, to ensure that senior executives receive the high-quality information and options needed to make sound strategic decisions.

Staff in the Branch contribute to a range of areas of work, but it is planned that this role will primarily work on the preparation of strategic advice to support one of the major bodies supported by the Branch. These include the Department's Education State Board, the Department's Policy and Implementation Committee, the Department's Central Agencies liaison meetings, the cross-government Children's Services Coordination Board, and the Victorian Children's Council, which provides expert advice to the Minister for Families and Children.

The role will suit a person with a good knowledge of the Government's policy agenda, an interest in and experience of public policy processes, good organisational skills, a strong collaborative ethos, the ability to liaise effectively with staff across the department, and an ability to communicate timely advice to senior levels. Experience in secretariat processes and project management is desirable.

** Although a full-time position is available, part-time or job share arrangements will be supported. Please indicate in your application if this is of interest.
