The role  

This role is your opportunity to make an impact by effectively managing and implementing IT programs and projects under our IT Strategic Plan 2019-23. This plan continues to modernise and transform our services, with seven programs including Master Data, Digital Applications and Enterprise Intelligence. You will work on a wide variety of programs and projects within a high performing, supportive team. 


Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office and IT Procurements, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the design, development, testing and implementation of a diverse range of IT projects.
  • Managing and leading a multi-disciplinary team of technical staff, contractors and third party suppliers.
  • Providing a structured framework for identifying, communicating, managing and reporting project outcomes.
  • Applying contemporary Agile software development frameworks.
  • Managing and engaging stakeholders to ensure agreed schedules and budgets.


The ideal candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in leading and managing significant IT applications or infrastructure projects within government.
  • Experience in using formal project management frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience in using a variety of methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, to deliver projects.
  • The high-level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills needed to convey strategic, tactical and technical content to senior stakeholders.

An understanding of Victorian Public Sector procurement processes would be an advantage as would experience with Primavera.
