About the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA)
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services in Victoria. VECRA works to ensure the safety, wellbeing and development of children through effective regulation, compliance, quality assessment and continuous improvement across the early childhood sector.
VECRA plays a critical system management role, providing guidance, oversight and assurance to the sector while supporting high-quality early childhood education outcomes for Victorian children and families.
About the Role
VECRA is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director of Governance and Corporate support.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, Governance and Corporate Support is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of VECRA's governance and corporate functions, including governance, risk, finance, human resources (HR), business planning, policy, accommodation and facilities, as well as priority projects. The Director leads a branch comprising several specialist teams, ensuring integrated service delivery and organisational capability that enables VECRA to fulfil its regulatory responsibilities with integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Duties include:
- Continue to build and develop VECRA's governance frameworks, performance reporting, and risk management systems in line with legislative obligations and the standing directions.
- Drive continuous improvement across VECRA, ensuring corporate services are efficient, future-focused, and responsive to regulatory priorities.
- Build strong partnerships across VECRA and the Department of Education as well as with external stakeholders to enhance transparency, integrity, and service outcomes.
- A strong focus on the continuation of high-quality recruitment, training and induction of staff and roles within the branch
- Oversee and drive priority projects, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant delivery to meet legislative, regulatory, and departmental requirements
- Represent VECRA at various internal and external working groups and national forums
