Position Details
The Opportunity
The Senior Planning and Environment EES Project Officer sits within the project delivery team and plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Environment Effects Statement (EES) for Victoria's Offshore Wind Transmission project, with the opportunity to continue supporting future VicGrid major transmission and energy infrastructure projects as the program expands.
This position is responsible for providing specialist planning, environmental and approvals advice across the current EES process, including coordination of technical assessments, review of key documentation, stakeholder and regulator interface (including IAU and TRG processes), input to statutory approvals pathways, and support of internal governance requirements. The role works closely with project leadership, technical consultants, government agencies, and Traditional Owner groups to ensure the EES is delivered to a high standard, on program, and in compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
The position will also involve periodic travel to Gippsland to support on-ground project activities and provide technical input for community and stakeholder engagement as required.
What you will deliver
- Lead and support delivery of the Offshore Wind Transmission EES, including coordination of specialist assessments, approvals documentation, statutory referrals, planning inputs and cultural heritage processes.
- Provide clear, practical planning and environmental advice to the VicGrid project team and delivery partners to inform impact assessment, corridor refinement and approvals decisions.
- Support strong, respectful relationships with Traditional Owners and First Peoples through consultation, cultural heritage investigations and approvals processes.
- Travel to Gippsland as needed to support community and stakeholder engagement, including attending local meetings and project events
What you will bring
- Demonstrated knowledge of both the EES process and best practice environmental impact assessment, the Victorian and Federal planning and environmental approvals processes and legislation relevant to the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
- Sound knowledge of the administration and legislative aspects of planning and/or environmental management of infrastructure projects and protection of the environment, including demonstrated experience in preparing planning, heritage and/or environmental approval documentation.
- Proven high level interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders, providing sound technical advice on planning and/or environmental matters in a major project or infrastructure context.
