The Opportunity

The Senior Planning and Environment Project Officer is responsible for providing expert advice on a range of planning and approvals matters for transmission projects across the State.  

The ideal candidate has a strong planning and environment approvals background with demonstrated engagement skills to collaborate across government, industry and other stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes. The position requires effective leadership, a high level of drive and commitment, integrity and resilience, and the ability to build trust through consistent actions, values, and communication.

What you will deliver

  • Support planning and environmental approval processes including planning scheme amendments, permit applications, environmental referrals and approvals, heritage approvals and other approvals as required.
  • Provide specialist advice to ensure accurate, timely and focussed planning and environmental services over one or more phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Effectively support and develop respectful partnerships with Traditional Owners and First Peoples.

What you will bring

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice environmental impact assessment, including the Victorian and Federal planning and environmental approvals processes and legislation relevant to the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
  • Sound knowledge of the administration and legislative aspects of planning and/or environmental management of infrastructure projects and protection of the environment, including demonstrated experience in preparing planning, heritage and/or environmental approval documentation.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders, providing sound technical advice on planning and/or environmental matters in a major project or infrastructure context.
