Principal (Teacher) Practitioner

VIT is seeking a high performing teacher with extensive current experience in the teaching profession to join its busy Accreditation and Professional Practice team. With expert knowledge and practice, strong professional affiliations and a wide network of teachers and educational leaders, the role will ensure VIT is well informed on contemporary teaching practice. The Principal Practitioner will need to be adept at disseminating knowledge of leading teaching practice approaches and able to share their intelligence about the sector and ensure that VITs regulatory approaches are tailored to the relevant sectors. The role will contribute to important policy reviews and policy development (e.g. Review of the Victorian Teaching Profession Code of Conduct).

Position Details

This position is designed for a teacher who has deep knowledge of Victorian education across the pre-service, school and early childhood teaching education sectors. It offers a great opportunity to build the knowledge of staff within VIT, and to work with key stakeholders of the profession to provide an authoritative and expert voice about teacher regulation.

The successful applicant will contribute to strategic decision-making, and provide advice that contextualises VIT's regulatory functions and practice into the contemporary learning and teaching environment.

The Principal Practitioner reports directly to the Director of Accreditation and Professional Practice and will be required to work closely with the VIT Executive.
