About the role

Be part of a forward-thinking, risk based regulator where ideas and opinions are valued.

  • work collaboratively with the Assistant Manager Education and Compliance to provide high-level leadership, management and specialist guidance to staff, enabling individual and team effectiveness, professional growth and positive engagement 
  • plan, manage and lead the development and delivery of highly technical risk-based education and compliance programs (internal and external)
  • demonstrate accountability for the achievement of team objectives, in line with VIT's vision, purpose and strategic plan
  • assess and report on risk, maintain relevant Risk Registers, develop and implement mitigations to proactively manage risk, and respond in a timely and solutions-focussed manner
  • analyse and report on education and compliance data, program outcomes and stakeholder feedback, identifying issues and trends, and proposing and implementing effective policy solutions
  • develop business plans which deliver against organisational priorities and participate in strategic planning and decision-making in relation to education and compliance, including contribution to the development of business systems 
  • initiate and maintain effective relationships and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders at peer and senior levels 
  • prepare authoritative and high quality reports, briefings and correspondence on highly complex issues for the Director and Executive
  • work collaboratively to deliver outcomes aligned with the strategic plan, model the Victorian public sector values and VIT behaviours, and foster a positive culture and working environment 

About you

As an experienced leader, you will have a strong background in management as well as knowledge and understanding of risk-based regulation and a demonstrated history of developing, implementing and evaluating risk-based education and compliance programs.

You will have a proven track record of managing and reporting on the delivery of education and compliance programs, an ability to establish and drive a positive workplace culture, and a strong ability to contribute strategically to the development of business objectives.

You will have experience working with a team of technical specialists, as well as a strong ability to foster staff capability, positively influence organisational culture and manage change using inclusive practices.

You will be a future focussed leader with a strong organisational awareness, an ability to think strategically, and a proven ability to drive a strong culture of performance in a complex and high-pressure regulatory environment. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will desirably have demonstrated knowledge of the education sector as well as a qualification in compliance.
