Position Details
- Full time maximum term position up to 12 months (part time applications considered)
- Salary range: $87,799 - $98,901 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
Based at our Melbourne CBD office, you will appear as an advocate by providing legal services including duty lawyer services, casework and advice services in local courts and outreach locations, in criminal law matters. You will have a proven ability to deliver high volume client services, handle busy court lists and appropriately support our clients, particularly those who have experienced violence or trauma.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to obtain clear instructions, and explain complex legal matters in simple terms. This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in interesting and at times complex work aimed at improving community access to legal aid services.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Sound knowledge and experience as a legal practitioner with a thorough understanding of the criminal law jurisdiction and court procedures.
- Experience in advocating for clients with diverse and complex issues and the ability to identify client's needs beyond their immediate legal issue.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders for the benefit of our clients and the community more broadly.
