Position Details
- Full time maximum term position up to 12 months (part-time applications considered)
- Salary range: $87,664 - $98,901 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking an experienced people leader to join our Help Before Court team. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team of legal assistants, ensuring effective day-to-day operations and meeting service delivery objectives. You will coordinate administrative support for legal staff and collaborate with the criminal law management and project management teams to develop and implement policies and strategies that enhance and support quality service provision. Experience with phone-based service is preferred for this position.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country

- Strong people management abilities to drive service delivery improvements in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in supervising and training staff, managing physical resources, and creating a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Demonstrated expertise in providing effective administrative support services, with the ability to enhance both the legal support and summary crime teams.
- Experience with phone-based service and a solid understanding of criminal law and legal procedures is advantageous, alongside a strong commitment to continually expanding your knowledge and experience in this field.
