About us
VCAT serves the community by resolving civil and administrative disputes and making decisions in human rights and guardianship cases. VCAT services a diverse range of Victorian disputes, from residential tenancy matters to complex building and property and human rights matters, which have a deep reach into the Victorian community and a direct impact on the economy, in particular, in planning, property, health and small business.
VCAT has currently embarked on a digitally-enabled service transformation focused on delivering enhanced online services for our users, end to end digital workflows in all our lists, and building an empowered and capable workforce who are receptive and ready for change.
About the role:
The successful candidate will be one of two Deputy Registrars within the Division. The Deputy Registrars will work together to lead, manage and develop the performance of the registry, comprising of two team leaders, a subject matter expert and 19 administrative officers, under the guidance of the Registrar.
Over the past 18 months, the Division has had a high turnover of staff and has required a strong focus on training and development. The Deputy Registrar is responsible for assisting the Team Leaders in developing and delivering inductions and staff training.
The role also has the responsibility for the management of complex files or enquiries, actively identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives and performs functions as a delegate of the Principal Registrar including issuing of a summons, determining fee relief applications and ordering the strike out of a VCAT application where appropriate.
The successful candidate will report to the Registrar and will work closely with their co-Deputy Registrar and Head of Division to support and drive initiatives throughout the Division. This role will require you to be a people leader and to develop your knowledge of the jurisdiction, its processes, procedures and systems.
