Position Details
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has a requirement to fill multiple new roles for a Specialist Registrars / Lawyers within the Residential Tenancies Division. It is preferable that the successful candidates be legally qualified, however applicants who have good or extensive experience in residential tenancy law are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidates will work closely with senior leaders and Members in the Residential Tenancies Division, as subject matter experts in Residential Tenancy law, using their legal expertise or residential tenancy experience to optimise the delivery of services to users and the management of residential tenancy cases.
These are exciting new roles that will establish, embed, and lead active management practices to support the efficient flow of cases – from application to hearing to resolution. These roles will have a particular focus on, and will take carriage of, the management of bond and compensation related cases. This includes making decisions in some cases, providing advice to Members and managers, and engaging with users.
You will have good experience in residential tenancy law. You have the ability to analyse information, prepare detailed case briefings, have great attention to detail, and can get your head around complex matters to solve problems quickly. Your experience has equipped you to make logical and sound decisions and to provide high-level technical and procedural guidance to Tribunal Members, users and registry colleagues, with the key focus to support the efficient flow of cases to hearing and resolution.
Your knowledge and application of residential tenancy law is highly-developed and you have a solid history of working in complex and multi-faceted operating environments and bring a continuous improvement focus to your work.
Your relationship-building and communication skills are exceptional, and you utilise these skills in forming, strengthening, and maintaining the stakeholder experience within the confines of local policy, established procedures, and legislative requirements. Your exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and resilience will be put to use to navigate complex issues, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role. Underpinning all that you say and do is your internal value system, which includes volumes of integrity and respect.
