VCAT is seeking a change-driven people manager to lead a team within the Human Rights Division.

Job Description

VCAT is committed to providing a modern, responsive and efficient tribunal service that meets the needs of all Victorians. The Human Rights Division is one of five divisions within VCAT. Members in the Human Rights Division decide matters relating to guardianship and administration, powers of attorney, medical treatment, equal opportunity, racial and religious vilification, health and privacy information, the Disability Act 2006 (Vic), and review decisions made by the Mental Health Tribunal.

The Role:

The Team Leader role manages a team of administrative staff who perform a diverse range of functions supporting the operations of the Human Rights Division. The Team Leader actively manages and maintains team outputs to ensure timely processing of applications and enquiries while building team capability and performance. They do this by providing feedback, support, direction and development opportunities to their team. 

The role is required to support a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence while maintaining oversight of team performance and Divisional requirements according to changing workload and priorities. The ability to manage complex and sensitive cases and escalated client contact is also an important function of the role.

What you need to have:

The successful candidate will have proven ability to implement change and undertake project activities, as well as demonstrated leadership capabilities. You will have a proactive and flexible approach and an ability to utilise good judgement and common sense in your decision making. You will be able to demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interpret and apply legislation and guidelines. You have a collaborative working style which you use to develop and maintain productive working relationships.
