Position Details

Who we are
As the control agency for flood, storm, tsunami, earthquake and landslide emergency, we take the lead in the preparation and response for those hazards. Under the coordination of Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), VICSES works within the broader emergency management sector, wherein all agencies and services work as one to ensure the safety of the state.

VICSES is committed to being a child safe organisation. At VICSES we support the safety, participation, wellbeing and empowerment of children we seek to ensure the safety of children involved in all VICSES activities. It is the responsibility of all members to comply with the Child Safety Policy, and act in accordance with the Child Safety Code of Conduct, which are all available on the VICSES HUB.

Incident Management Team (IMT) or Emergency Management Team (EMT) positions can be undertaken by mutual agreement. 


The role

As the first point of contact for the Wellbeing, Health and Safety team, the WHS Officer is a flexible role with a focus on delivering on WHS initiatives, under the guidance of WHS Advisors. The role proactively maintains the content of the safety management manual (Play Your Part) and coordinates the preparation of reports, documents and meetings. The WHS Officer also conducts preliminary research into key WHS risk areas, drafts WHS risk assessments, prepares audits, supports incident investigations, uses WHS software systems and conducts trend analysis across all Wellbeing health and Safety data sources.
This position requires a high level of understanding of VICSES business needs and interacts with all levels of VICSES staff and volunteers, with some travel throughout rural Victoria and overnight stays also forming a part of this role. This role is based at the VICSES Head Office in Southbank, Melbourne.
