Investigation and Compliance Officer

An Investigation and Compliance Officer is an Authorised Officer appointed under the Long Service Leave Act 2018 to monitor, assess, and seek compliance with this statutory framework. The position requires the ability to develop a deep understanding of the rights and responsibilities under the relevant laws and judiciously apply the powers and functions delegated to Authorised Officers. More specifically, an Investigation and Compliance Officer conducts investigations, audits and proactive compliance activities relating to alleged non-compliance, using the full range of compliance and enforcement outcomes available including making recommendations for and preparing cases for prosecution, where appropriate.

Position Details

Wage Inspectorate Victoria (the Wage Inspectorate) is an independent statutory authority which enforces Victorian workplace laws covering wage theft, child employment, long service leave and independent contractors in the transport and forestry sectors.

An Investigation and Compliance Officer is an Authorised Officer appointed under the Long Service Leave Act 2018 to monitor, assess, and seek compliance with this statutory framework. The position requires the ability to develop a deep understanding of the rights and responsibilities under the relevant laws and judiciously apply the powers and functions delegated to Authorised Officers. More specifically, an Investigation and Compliance Officer conducts investigations, audits and proactive compliance activities relating to alleged non-compliance, using the full range of compliance and enforcement outcomes available including making recommendations for and preparing cases for prosecution, where appropriate.

The position is a member of the Long Service Leave team and reports to the Team Leader, LSL. On occasion, the position holder may be required to undertake work across other areas of the Wage Inspectorate's regulatory functions. The position has a requirement to work out of hours including occasional overnight travel.
