Position Details

 Senior Environment Protection Officer | Location: SOUTHERN METRO, Dandenong

Once in a lifetime opportunity to join EPA and help shape the future as we embark on a whole of organisation transformation to become a world class regulator!

This role is critical to EPA operating as both a regulator and influential authority and is often the most direct experience the public have with EPA.

Working within a team environment you will be required to inspect complex industries and premises, providing high level compliance and technical advice about how to comply with the Environment Protection Act.  

Non-compliance will be remedied through constructive and comprehensive remedial notices and where necessary you will conduct complex investigations to apply sanctions to deter noncompliance.

In this leadership role you will be required to support and lead Environment Protection Officers (EPOs) in undertaking their role. This role may be required to provide support in locations across the state and afterhours emergency incident response role by agreement.

  • A proven track record in leading, developing and supporting team members through activities such as mentoring and training
  • A commitment to EPA's aim of protecting the environment
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and motivate internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of environmental management, regulation, law and common industry practices, risks and controls
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and customer service
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive, private and confidential information
  • Degree in science, law, engineering or equivalent qualification. Significant industry experience will also be considered.
