ACMI is Australia's national museum of screen culture. Based in Melbourne/*Naarm, it is a place for our communities to navigate the universe of film, TV, videogames and art with us. ACMI celebrates the wonder and power of screen culture – fostering the next generation of makers, players and watchers. ACMI's vibrant calendar of exhibitions, screenings, commissions, festivals, and industry and education programs – both in-venue and online – explore the stories, technologies and creators that make our shared screen culture.
ACMI has an amazing opportunity for you to join us as our Director of Programming in this new full time fixed term role (3 years), reporting to the Executive Director of Programming. The Director of Programming leads the research, development, curation and delivery of an ambitious multiplatform museum program. This hands-on curatorial and programming leadership position inspires and leads the programming teams across multiple areas of expertise in film, tv, videogames and where art intersects with screen culture. The role works in close partnership with the Director of Exhibitions and Touring to jointly create and deliver transformative exhibitions aligned to ACMI's vision and mission.
Our ideal team member has experience leading the development of major cultural experiences focusing on the medium of screen culture. With a proven track record in developing impactful visitor experiences, you have strong intellectual foundations, understandable by broad audiences. Your experience in successfully curating and delivering major programs within a museum, or a year-round public institution, is underpinned by established research and quality standards. You'll bring your strong network of local and international contacts and a track record of successful commercial negotiations and identifying new income streams. You are committed and passionate about cultural diversity and the role of mid-sized public institutions in developing new, non-expert, audiences for creative work and complex ideas. You enjoy and are adept at leading multi-skilled teams at varying stages of careers, including financial, operational and staffing resource management and can contribute to overall business and strategic planning processes.

This Grade 6 role is offered on a full time fixed term basis (3 years), with a starting salary of $129,379 plus super. You'll have the flexibility to WFH and Federation Square (Melbourne) plus occasional national and international travel is required.
