Applications for South West Healthcare's 2025 Graduate Midwifery/Nurse Program (GM/NP) are now open!
About our 2025 GM/NP
We believe in providing a highly supportive environment for all Graduate Midwives/Nurses that encourages professional development and excellence in nursing and midwifery care. Our aim is to provide clinical structured support during the transition from student to Registered Midwife/Nurse, whilst encouraging self-directed learning.
This program commencing from February 2025 offers the opportunity for you to consolidate and apply theoretical knowledge by developing skills in a variety of settings. The program comprises of 6 months rotations in the Midwifery Unit and 6 months Acute General Nursing. Graduate Midwives/Nurses have the option to work either full or part time hours (a minimum 64 hours per fortnight) to support work/life balance. This 12-month program provides the option for permanent, ongoing employment subject to the successful completion of the Graduate Nurse Program. Future opportunities also exist to apply for specialised programs that provide pathways to post graduate study.
All our GM/NP positions are subject to the state-wide Computer Matching process, conducted by the Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV). All public health Graduate Nurse Positions are allocated in Victoria through this Computer Matching Service. Graduates of interstate Universities or full-fee paying Victoria graduates can still apply for a limited number of places. How to apply
To be eligible for these positions you must have completed a double degree in both Nursing and Midwifery.

- One page Cover Letter addressed to Sue Anderton (Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery) indicating why you would like to undertake a Graduate Midwifery/ Nurse Program at South West Healthcare
- Curriculum Vitae/Resume (maximum two pages), including one clinical placement referee and one non-clinical employee referee
- Copy of your academic transcript to date (including grading key)
- Copy of two most recent acute clinical placement assessments
- Copy of passport styled photograph of applicant
Employment Terms and Conditions will be in line with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024, with the classification Registered Nurse Grade 2 Year 1 (Graduate Nurse) as appropriate.
The successful applicant will be required to be eligible for and undergo the following:

- Current Immunisation status
