About Us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. About the Role
Offered on a full-time fixed-term basis until 30 June 2025, the Project Officer works as part of the Family Violence Policy and Practice Unit (FVPPU) within the Magistrates' Court of Victoria, which aims to deliver service excellence and strengthen the family violence processes in the Magistrates' Court. The Project Officer assists in the identification, design and implementation of key project needs across remote hearing support service (RHSS) to support staff training, development and capability building of the RHSS team in responding to Affected Family Members and to strengthen connections and referral processes for key internal stakeholders and external support services.
Reporting to the SFVC Implementation Manager, the Project Officer will be responsible for assisting in the identification, design, development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of identified projects and activities and assisting in their completion. More broadly, the Project Officer will contribute to the development and delivery of court services and programs to enable the Remote Hearing Support Service to support, protect and improve the outcomes for victims of family violence and hold people who use family violence to account for their behaviour. This includes the implementation of recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence (RCFV), supporting the embedding and sustainability of Family Violence reform in all Courts, and ensuring alignment with the MARAM Framework.
Key accountabilities include:
- Developing, planning and supporting projects, activities and policy initiatives for the Magistrates' Court of Victoria in relation to the Remote Hearing program and being accountable for delivery and completion in line with resourcing, timeline, scope and budget parameters
- Supporting, monitoring and reporting on Remote Hearing outcomes and progressing with implementation of the Remote Hearing evaluation recommendations including assisting in the collection, analysis and presentation of high-level data and information to a variety of audiences
- Working closely alongside the RHSS Practice Manager and SFVC Implementation Manager to develop contingency plans regarding various potential outcomes from the business case application to support the Remote Hearing Support Service
- Identifying risks and developing innovative operational solutions in the management and implementation of projects and initiatives
- Using demonstrated experience and expertise to provide influential policy and project development advice
- Supporting the Remote Hearing business case by providing subject matter expert advice and information
About You
- Hold demonstrated expertise or knowledge of the principles and processes of project management, project lifecycle stages and project management methodologies
- Have a demonstrated understanding of the nature and dynamics of family violence and knoweledge of family violence community resources and services (highly regarded)
- Demonstrable knoweldge of business case development methodology
