Job Description
An exciting and unique opportunity exists for an effective, talented and passionate individual to join the Strategy team in the Delivery and Strategy Branch as a Policy Officer, Strategy at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Delivery and Strategy Branch reports to the Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and works across government to quickly analyse and identify solutions to priority policy and delivery issues. The Strategy team works on high priority projects on a range of policy and operational topics.
In this role you will support the Branch to deliver projects including through analysis, policy advice, project management, and stakeholder consultation. Your work will contribute to advice to the Premier, the Secretary and senior DPC executives.
You will have the opportunity to work on a breadth of policy and delivery issues across government, while building and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders. This role requires a proactive self-starter with a passion for public policy, a good understanding of government processes and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong policy, analytical and communication skills, and work effectively in a team environment.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Sound knowledge of the processes, policies and procedures within government and understanding of public sector accountability.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills, initiative and a ‘can do' approach to identifying issues and providing strategic advice on policies and programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confidently conveying complex ideas and information in a clear and engaging manner in briefs, submissions, reports and PowerPoint presentations.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations.
- Strong time and task management skills, focusing on outcomes and delivering within available resources and timelines.
