Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Economic Development and International Branch as Manager, Industry, Innovation and Investment at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Economic Development and International branch provides advice to the Premier and Cabinet on a range of international engagement, economic development, jobs and employment, investment attraction, innovation, small business, regional development, tourism and major events, sport and recreation and creative industries issues.
As a Manager, you will lead a small team in a fast paced and collaborative environment, helping lead responses to complex policy problems.
You will engage across government to lead the central agency oversight of a range of economic development portfolios, including by supporting Cabinet and budget processes. The position requires the flexibility to respond to rapid change, and strong policy and planning capability to deliver a varied work agenda.
We are seeking a candidate who will contribute to a high performing culture, deliver successful outcomes, develop capability within the team and be a leader within the branch.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Highly developed people management skills, including aligning team with organisational values and goals through effective people management, coaching and modelling.
- Proven experience delivering high quality policy advice and strategic projects in high pressure environments and under tight timeframes.
- Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with sound judgment, ‘can do' attitude, and capacity to make decisions and recommendations.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop strong, productive partnerships and engage key stakeholders and provide clear advice on processes and policies.
- Demonstrated contribution to building a positive, flexible, inclusive organisational culture, where staff feel a strong sense of wellbeing and attachment to the workplace.
