Position Details
THE ROLE
The role will support work associated with the development of a comprehensive system and strategy that ensures Aboriginal people have shared access to, and the capability to use, locally relevant data and information to set and monitor the implementation efforts to Close the Gap, their priorities and to drive their own development.
The role works collaboratively with DFFH executives, managers and program areas across the state in ensuring Aboriginal designed and delivered research, data and evaluation principles are embedded in Aboriginal program and service delivery. The role is also tasked with ensuring that policies and programs developed are providing strong client led outcomes and that there is Aboriginal voice in decision making processes.
The role will contribute to the coordination of the department's annual report on the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework (VAAF), Closing the Gap National Agreement and Self Determination Framework as well as reporting on the departments Korin Korin Balit-Djak strategy for department forums including the Aboriginal Strategic Governance Forum.
The position will require a strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and principles of self-determination, as well as proven highly developed leadership, negotiation and relationship building skills. It will also require a strong understanding of evidence, reporting, research and evaluation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Work in partnership with Aboriginal community leaders to define and deliver evidence and reporting priorities for Aboriginal business across DFFH.
- Support work associated with the department's annual reporting on various government agreements and frameworks including the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, Closing the Gap National Agreement and Self Determination Framework.
