About the role
The assessment, classification, sentence and intervention planning of prisoners under the custody of Corrections Victoria who have been identified as being managed by the MOU and those also posing a risk of violent extremism.
The Sentence Management Division is responsible for identifying prisoners' needs and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing prisoners appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of the prisoners, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. The Sentence Management Division is responsible for guiding the journey of offenders across the period of their sentence.
The Major Offenders Unit is part of the Sentence Management Division and is a component of Corrections Victoria's proactive approach to managing risk and responsiveness. The Unit monitors those offenders identified as high profile, high risk or complex and is responsible for monitoring the progress of offenders across both prisons and community correctional services. The major offender cohort includes violent extremist offenders.
The Assistant Manager will assist in the assessment, classification, sentence and intervention planning of prisoners under the custody of Corrections Victoria who have been identified as being managed by the MOU and those posing a risk of violent extremism (including a range of ideologies). The position will require travel to a variety of Corrections Victoria facilities across the state.
