About Us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
This role is part of the Specialist Courts and Court Support Services program within the Magistrates' Court. Specialist Courts provides arrange of initiatives to assist accused persons and others involved in the court system, who are experiencing issues of social or cultural disadvantage, including substance abuse, disability, mental illness, family violence or cognitive impairment.
These initiatives include the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP), the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC), CISP Remand and Outreach Pilot (CROP), the Criminal Justice Diversion Program, the Drug Court of Victoria and Family Violence Programs and Initiatives. In addressing pre-existing issues that contribute to offending and other anti-social behaviours, these initiatives aim to reduce re-offending.
About You
A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, welfare disability or another relevant field is required.
