Position Details
- Full time ongoing position (part-time considered)
- Salary range: $98,902 - $123,624 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
In this role, you will provide expert legal services including casework, legal advice, and court representation in areas such as mental health, disability law, tenancy, social security, NDIS, and fines. You'll also supervise, mentor, and train junior lawyers while promoting civil justice through community engagement and legal education.

This role is based at our Shepparton office on Yorta Yorta and Bangerang Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience handling complex civil law matters, particularly in areas like mental health, disability, tenancy, and social security.
- Proven ability to represent clients in tribunals and courts effectively, with a focus on civil and human rights.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering their professional development in civil law.
- Ability to work well with community and partner agencies to support clients and advocate for systemic change.
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations Australians and understanding the cultural and legal complexities they face.
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
