About this role
The Strategic Environmental Planning Branch is looking for a Team Leader to work in a multi-disciplinary team and lead the delivery of the Melbourne Strategic Assessment Southern Brown Bandicoot Strategy, including program design, governance, implementation and evaluation as well as creating and using decision support tools to guide cost-effective conservation action.
The role has a particular focus on achieving statutory outcomes for Southern Brown Bandicoot conservation under the Melbourne Strategic Assessment (Environment Mitigation) Levy Act 2020 (MSA(EM)L Act) and managing multiple projects and processes to do so, through partnership with various stakeholders across a defined Southern Brown Bandicoot management area. The Team Leader will translate species and management response models and research into priority conservation actions, advice and formal guidelines for land managers, in line with strategic objectives.
The Team Leader will consult and liaise with key stakeholders such as Traditional Owners, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, councils, Melbourne Water, Parks Victoria, public reserve Committees of Management, universities, environmental groups, subject matter experts and landowners. This position will be responsible for managing the delivery of all aspects of the Melbourne Strategic Assessment Southern Brown Bandicoot Strategy, including funding allocation, governance and risk management.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Qualification or relevant experience in environmental / ecological science or threatened species management is highly desirable.
- Knowledge or experience using decision support tools to inform effective and efficient management actions for biodiversity or natural resource outcomes is highly desirable.
This is a fixed term position until 31 May 2026. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
