About this role
The Project Geoscientist, Geochemistry is responsible for coordinating field work to collect, analyse, interpret and deliver high-quality geochemical data to support delivery of Theme 1: Mapping the Opportunity of the Victorian Critical Minerals Roadmap. Supporting environmental geochemistry investigations, including baseline characterisation studies Project Geoscientist, Geochemistry aids in the provision of technical advice on the controls and distribution of critical minerals geochemistry and prospectivity in Victoria, including areas identified as a Priority Critical Minerals Development Zone.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in environmental science, geoscience or science is mandatory, a component of independent research (Hons minimum) will be advantageous.
- A current valid Victorian driver's licence is mandatory.
- Proven ability to design, collect and deliver high-quality geochemical data, including in the field, to support a deliverable aligned with project objectives.
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills with geoscientific data, including the use of spatial and/or geochemistry software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, ioGAS, etc).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare data and content (e.g. MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, etc) as part of contributing to the timely delivery of geoscience outputs such as reports, presentations and/or supporting material.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to safety, and the ability to engage, collaborate and gain cooperation with a range of stakeholders as part of effective participation in multi-disciplinary teams.
- A member of a national and/or international professional geoscience organisation is desired.
- CPR and First Aid certification would be advantageous.
This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
