Your new role
We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Prevention Policy & Research team as Principal Advisor on a full-time fixed term (until 22/05/26) basis. Reporting to the Manager - Prevention Policy & Research, the role will project manage research and prevention policy projects and coordinate and develop authoritative strategic policy advice on complex public sector corruption and police misconduct issues.
Duties include:
- In consultation with the Manager, Prevention Policy & Research, coordinate and develop authoritative strategic policy advice on complex public sector corruption and police misconduct issues arising from investigations, policy reviews, audits, strategic assessments, and research, and identify innovative and workable policy solutions to those issues.
- Establish and maintain effective and productive collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and guidance within the Prevention Policy & Research team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, procedures and policies within the team.
- Professionally and promptly manage and resolve more complex work-related issues through to resolution; support constructive working relationships and act as a role model, modelling ethical behaviours and values.

Our requirements / Your skill set
We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:
- Policy skills - excellent research, conceptual and analytical skills demonstrated in the development, analysis and resolution of complex policy issues.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and guiding a team in the development of high-quality written reports on the outcomes of projects or research.
- Tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in a relevant discipline is preferable, as is a sound understanding of contemporary issues in the field of public sector corruption and police misconduct prevention.
Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
Due to a conflict-of-interest IBAC is unable to accept applications for secondment from Victoria Police employees.
