Position Details
The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

Funds in Court (FIC) is an Office of the Supreme Court of Victoria. FIC administers funds held in Court, and assets purchased from them, for people with a disability.
People who have their funds held in Court are known as clients. FIC supports the Senior Master in managing funds and providing assistance for more than 6,600 clients. The Senior Master is an Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
The Office acts in a manner that is consistent with the law and in the best interests of beneficiaries of the Court.
About the Role
Offered on a full-time ongoing basis and reporting to the Team Leader, Client Services, the Client Support Officer is a member of the Client Services Team and is accountable for services arising from day-to-day dealings clients and carers and, in particular, in respect of their requests to access funds in Court.
The position is primarily responsible for providing quality customer service, information and operational support for the administration of court ordered funds for persons under legal disability within a high volume and challenging work environment.
The Client Support Officer provides back up support to Client Services Officer that are on leave as well as maintaining responsibility for a small caseload of client files.
Key accountabilities include:
- Responsibility for managing a small portfolio of clients providing timely and efficient funds administration services, and convey specialist concepts and advice for persons under disability to achieve Client Services standards and provide backup support across the Trust Administration Section as required.
- Using expertise and knowledge to liaise with and maintain effective communication networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Recommending preferred course of action as part of well researched, comprehensive memoranda on complex matters requiring in-depth analysis for consideration by the Senior Master or other Associate Judges and the Judicial Registrar.
- Maintaining current, accurate records in the Trust Management System [TMS], and meeting relevant audit requirements.
- Proactively engaging in training and professional development to maintain high-level knowledge of issues relevant for persons under disability. This includes maintaining specialist knowledge of the procedural and practical requirements of Funds in Court.
About You
- Knowledge of the procedural and practical requirements of the Senior Master, (who is an Associate Judge) of relevant legislation, particularly of the Supreme Court Act 1986, the Trustee Act 1958, the Guardianship and Administration Act 2019, the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 and the Rules of Court, as they impact upon the administration of funds in Court for persons under disability.
- Sound experience and advanced skills in the use of the Microsoft suite of applications
- Highly developed work organisation skills with the capacity to set meaningful priorities within a changing environment, paying particular attention to detail in all undertakings with the ability to balance competing priorities.
- Ability to have difficult conversations whilst being sensitive to others' needs.
- Active listening skills and well developed professional communication skills.
- Well-developed financial literacy skills and experience in the disability sector, trustee or related industry would be highly regarded
