About the Role
South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our dynamic and collaborative team. You'll work alongside a diverse group of VMO and staff specialists, all committed to delivering safe, best practice clinical services to our patients.
The Orthopaedic team offers a comprehensive range of services, including the management of upper and lower limb elective orthopaedic issues, major joint replacements, and both adult and paediatric trauma and emergency care. As part of the team, you will provide inpatient, pre- and post-operative, and outpatient care, while also supporting fracture clinics.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide and supervise clinical care, including inpatient, pre- and post-operative, and outpatient services.
- Participate in clinical governance, safety quality activities, audits, and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings.
- Contribute to the education and training of interns, junior medical staff, and registrars.
- Engage in research, supported by the Deakin Rural Clinical School and the service's Research Unit.
Position Overview
- Permanent, full-time role - 76 hours per fortnight

What You Bring
- Extensive experience in Orthopaedics and registration with AHPRA.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and current registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict management skills.
- Ability to support and train junior medical staff with a collaborative approach.
