About the Opportunity
The Senior Finance Business Partner supports the Manager Business Planning and Reporting in delivering strategic financial insights, driving best practices in resource allocation, budget performance management, and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting to enable informed decision-making at the executive level.
The Senior Finance Business Partner collaborates closely with managers and senior leaders, leveraging on strong professional relationships to deliver high-quality financial analysis and strategic advice to enhance organisational performance. The Senior Finance Business Partner ensures alignment of financial practices with organisational priorities, facilitates efficient resource utilisation, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve financial outcomes and organisational effectiveness.
The Senior Finance Business Partner also serves as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, supporting it in navigating complex financial challenges and achieving strategic goals while maintaining compliance with legislation, policies and accounting standards.
The Senior Finance Business Partner is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
- Assisting in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss (P&L), balance sheet, and cash flow statements, ensuring accurate and actionable insights are delivered to senior management.
- Conducting high-level variance analysis and provide strategic commentary on financial performance to identify risks and opportunities to inform decision-making.
- Supporting the Library's strategic planning processes by contributing data-driven insights and recommendations for efficient resource allocation.
- Collaborating on the annual budgeting process with the Manager Business Planning and Reporting and stakeholders to ensure budgets align with organisational goals and priorities.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of management accounts and reports, including submissions to the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), Creative Victoria (CV), and the Finance Committee, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Providing support for financial forecasting and modelling, aiding scenario planning and strategic decision-making processes.
- Mentoring other team members to enhance professional growth and team capability within the Finance branch.
- Contributing to the development and refinement of financial policies, procedures, and systems, ensuring alignment with best practices and addressing emerging organisational needs.
- Collaborating on key projects with cross-functional teams to support organisational objectives, delivering financial expertise and analysis to enhance project outcomes
- Building and maintaining collaboration with internal stakeholders, to enable seamless collaboration to resolve financial discrepancies.
- Supporting the Accounting Operations Lead with financial compliance tasks to ensure seamless operations.
- Assisting with ad hoc financial projects, as directed.
About You
The successful candidate brings extensive knowledge in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis, and has an ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders, including senior management, auditors, and external parties.
In addition, you will come to us with:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline,
- Full membership of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA) and/or Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA).
- Extensive experience working in a management accounting, budgeting, or business partnering role.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting financial analysis, including providing briefs on findings, with actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- A solid track record of enhancing financial analysis through utilising functions and features in Microsoft Excel.
