Position Details
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director, Child Protection Policy and Legislation the Manager, Child Protection Legal Policy will lead a team to provide strategic legal policy advice on the statutory Child Protection system and reform to that system.
The Manager, Child Protection Legal Policy will be responsible for leading a team to provide:
- expert policy and strategic advice on the Child Protection system to the Director, Executive Director, Deputy Secretary, Secretary and Minister (when required); and
- expert legal policy and legislative advice to the Director, Executive Director, Deputy Secretary, Secretary and Minister, including regarding potential reform to the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
Applicants should possess leadership and people management skills and be collaborative.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide specialist policy and strategic advice on the Child Protection system.
- Provide specialist legal policy advice regarding the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and other key legal frameworks that guide the operation of the Child Protection system.
- Advise on emerging and high priority strategy, policy and program issues in the Child Protection system, in collaboration with departmental colleagues and sector partners.
